Last night man utd were humiliated at middlesboro when they lost 1-4. As an Arsenal fan i used to enjoy man u's defeat before but nowadays as chelsea are our main rivals i don't enjoy man u's defeat so much. Even then the loss came as a real shock to me. Yes you can lose any game but the way they lost was absolutely shocking. the players didn't show any spirit and fight at all and could've conceeded even more goals.

What do you guys think?

yes it is very disspointing to see a team like man u struggle like this.
although i am not a fan of man u , i think the situation should change for the good of the game.
probably they need some fresh mind(i repeat not fresh blood) in the team
i.e. may be its time for SIR alex to make way for someone else.........with all respect to fergie i think they need to change him and start afresh

they have quality players and can overcome this phase...maybe they r missing a true leader

< although i wouldnt like them to improve as i am a diehard gunner>

They need a new manager. Sir Alex Fargson is not getting any younger. And they also need a Russian boss who can spend money on the players.

ironically however its because of one such takeover. I belive we have all heard of Malcom Glazer and the takeover so i shall not bore u with the details.

but i believe that the fall of Manchester United started long before Malcom Glazer ever took an active interest in the club.

But here is what i feel are the problems:

Sir Alex Ferguson: (read this bit and u will understand)
Ferguson has always been sensitive to criticism. The BBC are currently being ignored, and if he had his way he wouldn't do any press conferences. He has even taken to saying "Well done" at the end of pre- and post-match TV interviews to the startled interviewer, presumably for not asking any difficult questions. Why did you sell Jaap Stam, Sir Alex? No, really, Sir Alex - why did you sell Jaap Stam? What does Liam Miller do to earn more per week than most of your supporters earn per annum? Why are you earning ?4m per year if, as Ryan Giggs says, you have given Queiroz "the responsibility to train us, prepare us for games, organise the team and decide the things we need to work on"?

The culture of fear duly created, Ferguson has been able to get away with doing as he pleases. The consequence is that only in the underground world of fanzines and pub chats is the truth that dare not speak its name being spoken: Sir Alex Ferguson has tangibly, irrefutably lost the plot.

The problems go back to the summer of 2001, when he sold Stam, paid ?28.1m for the curse known as Juan Sebastian Veron and killed a golden goose that was delivering a Premiership every year in pursuit of a farewell European Cup at Hampden Park. Since then, he has made some desperate mistakes. These are not borderline errors of judgement; they are decisions that fly in the face of all rhyme and reason.

There is his record in the transfer market, with at least three Klebersons for every Gabriel Heinze and the shocking failure to address the decline of a once-majestic midfield; the delegation of significant power to the woefully negative Queiroz, which has made United neither successful nor entertaining, despite Queiroz's belief-beggaring proclamation that: "We are producing the most exciting, attacking football in the league".

Then there is the incessant tinkering - Fletcher ahead of Ronaldo for the last two, must-win league games; dropping Ronaldo, Scholes and Wayne Rooney to derail United's title charge at Crystal Palace last season. In the summer, with that match in mind, Stubborn of Govan said he would no longer rest players in league matches. That lasted about a month.

A change in formation:

Uniteds move away from the 442 that had bought them success throughout the late years of the last millenium was a change that did not agree well. Ferguson's fancy of trying the very continental 4231 did not work out at all.

There are some factors for this. While on paper the 4231 looks amazing, on the pitch its a different story altogether. On paper the 2 between the defence and attacking midfield would be filled by Scholes and Keane. What better players to fill up that slot. One a legendary engine and another an engine with a great shot and good vision.

on the pitch the story is totally different. Scholes and Keane are the sole link men between defence and attack and any poor performances by them would lead to a poor result from the team. While Keane has been getting on in years Paul scholes had also had a sleepwalker of a season. Nothin going there and the replacements that Fergie bought in the shape of Kleberson and Djemba never worked out. Even Phizzy was tried in that formation but did nothing of note. Fergie realized this too late and when he wanted to shift back to 442 he had at his disposal only two replacements: Liam miller and Fletcher - none good enough.

Nd russians are more soccer fan then the americans. Malcom Glazer bought manchester united mainly to do business, not that he loves football. And that russian (cant remember the name rite now) bought chelsea to do business as well but he loves football also. HE has other footballl clubs and have a bi sports complex in his house

dont worry pratt...its not the start of their slide.

Chelski wont be knocked off their pedestal at the top of English football for another 5-7 years atleast. And thats a conservative estimate.

Chelsea have got a huge empire in progress mate.

They have feeder clubs all over the world and any player that they think can benefit them they buy for those clubs. And when those players have played there for two-three years and gained enough experience they will bring them to Chelsea.

A great example to be is Javier Marscherano. The Argentenian enforcer is currently playing for Corninthians ( a club financed in part by Abrahamovic) and is widely expected to join the Chavs within the next two seasons as a replacement for Makalele.

Shetai Tausif kichu korar nai.....but whats with football not being the beautiful game any more?..

Commercialization (is there any such term!?!? :?) of football has occured for decades now.....for so many occasions we have seen superstars in club football falter at the international level..

jaihok....we've deviated from Man United...lets talk about its fall....or rise.....whatever.... :(

well man utd have been consistently inconsistent this season. Hope that'll continue throughout

Their midfield is their main weak link right now and also with their fullbacks injured they are always fielding makeshift defenders in richardson and reserve players like bardsley

yep the center midfields where the main problems lie.

That is why they are so crazy to get Micha Ballack

removing fergie does not mean the golden days would be back.
they need to remove fergie to give the team a change.

and golden days dont come just by removing a manager......
A lot of things are involved. u need a good generation of players aswell some really good coaching staff and manager aswell a good invester for the club.and of course a bit of luck..

by the way :D :P  this is my 100th post  :P :D
